Counsellor & Psychotherapist

Lisa Soda

I find it fascinating to understand why we become counsellors and what draws us to a path of psychological examination. Therefore, I wanted to share my own personal reason I have chosen to pursue a counselling career to which I am dedicated to helping others.

From an early age I expressed my care towards a love for animals, having had small pets throughout my childhood. My love for animals and curiosity about their health care led me towards my first professional career as a veterinary nurse. A dedicated career that evolved from early adulthood into the latter part. As you can imagine there were sad elements in this job. However, my empathic nature supported those who might be experiencing their beloved pets end of life.

There are many reasons you may be seeking counselling, but I imagine you are wanting something to change. My aim is to facilitate a relationship that provides the conditions for you to explore your challenges freely and safely.

Following my own life experience, I embarked on personal therapy in my early twentyโ€™s and found this to be a positive impact on my life. It allowed me to make sense of my own family dynamics and adult relationships. I suddenly found a new perspective on life enabling me to navigate a more positive outlook. However, it was more than 20 years later I discovered counselling had always been part of my life, therefore it was the best decision to retrain.

I joined an agency in my early years of training where I supported individuals, families, and couples to navigate the challenging concepts of pregnancy related issues. It was a real privilege to support those in need of emotional support during such personal circumstances.

My vision has been to open a counselling practice and combine my love of animals for those who might benefit from having a therapy dog present. Dexter has his own biography which you might like to read. However, in short and being a Dachshund he is short but certainly not small on empathy. He joins me in my therapy work, lending a paw or a softened gaze that guarantees to bring a smile to your face.
